Monday Mural

March 2024 - Las Vegas NV

Never, never did I expect to come across a mural by any famous muralist in Las Vegas. You can imagine my squeal of delight to others' puzzlement (nah, it's Vegas no one cares!).

We were strolling through the new Park MGM, it was a huge Eataly!

Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel — whose use of skulls, religious iconography, and human figures in his pop surrealistic work — adds Las Vegas to his list of places featuring his art. Now he’s teamed up with Mama Rabbit, at the Park MGM, to create “Mother Natura.” The mural pays homage to Mayahuel, the Mexican goddess of agave and fertility, and finds a home not only inside the bar, but on sculptural slot machines in the casino.

The mural features the goddess Mayahuel looking down on a valley with agave, accompanied by three slot machines embedded in painted fiberglass sculptures. A bunny and two deer appear on the 12-foot machines.

We have seen Okuda in Fort Smith Arkansas 2017.

  1. Very cool! Sad no one cares if someone sees something and breaks out with a reaction of delight.
