New York City Highlights Day 3

Whew!! Another scorcher!!
Stopped in a cafe for breakfast on Times Square.

Then a short (well, I was whining in the heat that it was too long) walk down to the Hop ON Hop Off Water Taxi which I discovered was included in our New York Pass.

It's my birthday!

Golf driving range at Clinton Pier
 Freedom Tower

Pulling into Brooklyn at the Fulton St. taxi stop
 Lunch!!

 Ignazio's under the Manhattan Bridge

Wedding party posing as we ate
We caught up with them when we finished lunch and went strolling - love this photo!

DOWN UNDER MANHATTAN BRIDGE OVERPASS
Other acronyms for NYC areas - SOHO South of Houston St. You will sound like a real tourist if you pronounce this like a city in Texas!!
NOHO - North of Houston St.

Another wedding spotted

AND THEN...looming into view!

We docked and since our New York passes allowed entry to the Intrepid parked next door we headed over to visit it. Here is a link to a earthcam to view.

Time for refreshments! According to  their web site history says:
In 1868 Patrick Henry Carley opened his Landmark Tavern, an Irish Waterfront Saloon. In those days there was no 12th Avenue, just the shores of the Hudson, on which his Tavern sat. Mr. and Mrs. Carley designed their new saloon to also be a practical home for their children on the second and third floors.
This remained as such until prohibition forced them to turn the third floor into a speakeasy. As one of the oldest continually operating establishments in the CIty today, The Landmark Tavern still retains its classic old New York charm.

We strolled back to our hotel to change for our evening bus tour and dinner. This is part of the Hop On Hop Off package but doesn't allow any hopping, it is 2.5 hours of sightseeing from the top of a double decker.
We started off down Broadway.

Past the Forever 21 interactive billboard I mentioned yesterday

Might have to photoshop this and remove the bus passengers

Remember, it isn't pronounced like a city in Texas!!

Brooklyn - patrons lining up for 2 hours to try Grimaldi's. I wouldn't wait that long. Our pizza earlier today around the corner at Ignazio's was excellent without any wait.

Finally back in Times Square and time for some dinner. We settled on this pub and shortly after two couples from Toronto (Brampton and Scarborough) who had been on the bus tour came in and we chatted a bit.
