Day 1 London - quickly recapped in photos

Day 1 - we took the 9am flight on May 21 to London. Great flight, no ash clouds.
Flying over PEI

Landed and through customs with our luggage by 9:30 pm. Our driver, Kevin was waiting and had us at the hotel by 10:30. time to have a pint, some fish and chips and off to bed for everyone.

Saturday morning we awoke to a bright, sunny day. After our full breakfast (hot and cold) provided by the hotel we set to hit the road.

First a cab ride to pick up our London passes and then to the Hop On Hop Off bus for a whirlwind tour of the sights.

First stop - Trafalgar Square

Traffic was really busy on Whitehall so we got off the bus near Westminster and walked for a while.

Back on the Hop ON Hop Off to go to Kensignton Palace. You have to time your London Pass as we had a 2 day pass and it starts counting the day from the first time you use it, which isn't really fair.

On the way to the Palace...

Yes, he kindly posed for me

Getting a little hungry for lunch and must be time for a pint!

Time to walk off lunch (and it was a long walk) to Kensington Palace. I was looking forward to this as it was the home of Princess Diana. Unfortunately the current display did not really appeal to any of us, especially the guys. No pictures are allowed but I managed a couple before I got caught. I think if we had read up on the display beofre we went it might have helped. I think we all expected the palace to be still furnished as it was when it was lived in.
The grounds are lovely and I did enjoy the metal work.

Sightseeing is thirsty work and as we had just missed the Hop On Hop Off bus, what's a girl to do? But get a guy to buy her a drink.

Time to get back on the bus, snap more pictures.

Buckingham Palace

Time to head back to hotel to get ready for dinner in Brick Lane with some friends who happened to be here at the same time. Sorry, Jason for the blurry picture!

Our first taste of Balti food.

And so ends Day 1.
