Kammie's Odd Ball Challenge

Kammie's Odd Ball Challenge

The rules are - no rules.
Odd Ball Photos are those great photos that you take which really don’t seem to fit into a common category. We’ve all taken them and like them, because we just can’t hit delete and get rid of them. If you have any of those type of photos, this challenge is for you.
Oddball: noun a person or thing that is atypical, bizarre, eccentric, or nonconforming
adjective whimsically free-spirited; eccentric; atypical

Definitely one for this challenge. I saw this during the summer at the AGO and didn't really know what to do with the photos.

As per the Art Gallery of Ontario's description:
What weighs 3,300 pounds and is covered in Biblical scripture?

If you guessed Canadian artist John Scott’s celebrated Trans Am Apocalypse No. 3, you’re correct. Not familiar with this fantastic sculpture?

I think the dice are a nice/interesting/intriguing touch.

A unique work in our collection, Trans Am Apocalypse No. 3 is a 1980 V8 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Between 1998 and 2000, Scott painted the vehicle with black house paint and etched in its surface the entire text of the Revelation of St. John the Divine from the New Testament. For Scott, Trans Am is the imagined vehicle of choice for a modern horseman of the apocalypse – a muscle car for an era of machismo and consumerism.

  1. I've seen this one- or he did a second one. Several years ago it was on display in the National Gallery. It might have been a temporary exhibit, and AGO is its home.
