We took a cooking class on our first trip to New Orleans.
I also made it in the slow cooker, adding all the ingredients except the shrimp, at the same time and cooking on low for 7-8 hours. Add the shrimp just before you serve.
You can add uncooked rice when there is 2 hours left in the cooking time. UPDATE I added 2/3 cup of rice and it was way too much, also two hours is too long, next time I would just do 60 - 90 minutes.
So that's what goes into it.
