Granada Nicaragua Cemetery

January 2012 - Granada Nicaragua

A re-post as we were travelling all week.

The day that we had planned to go to Mombacho and instead found Catarina we drove past this cemetery and I suggested maybe we could visit it, not something John is very fond of.
Snapped as we drove by.

We stopped on our way back and went to visit it. It was REALLY hot otherwise we would have spent more time, but the heat was just bouncing off the white cement. Whole families are buried here.
There is a monument for the ex-presidents of the country, all buried together, I wonder how they all get along?

On our way back into town we had to pull over as a funeral procession was taking place. Well, actually we pulled over but nobody else did so this was the best shot I could get of the coach carrying the coffin to the church as the people walked behind it.

  1. I am one of the cemetary goers too!! Yay, another kindred spirit. There is such beautiful art in cemetaries. You've shot some gorgeous angels. I appreciate you sharing them with us.
