Irazú Volcano National Park in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica
The last time Volcán Irazú awoke was in the first half of the 1960's, when, for four years it showered the residents of Cartago and San José with ash, clogged the air with smoke, and sent glowing boulders rolling down its sides.
The fog quickly rolled in quickly the day we visited.

Great shots. The fog makes it look a bit spooky. I hope it stays dormant for a long time.

I love this - the fog shots and that last one of the man with the cattle or is it oxen. Very atmospheric.

What cool pictures! I've never been close to a volcano like that. It must be quite something to see in person - so prehistoric, I would think.
ReplyDeleteGreat armchair tour! Costa Rica is such a great vacation destination ... so much to see and do!
ReplyDeleteI love that traveler on the road, through the fog...so misty and mystical!

ReplyDeleteThose are great shots! The one with the long look into the crater almost gave me vertigo. My favorite is the one with the man and the oxen in the mist.
