Chumps

VIDEO  - It is only audio.

Queen's Roger Taylor has quietly released a new single called Chumps
Legendary Queen drummer Roger Taylor released a new solo single, which appears to slam US President Donald Trump. The song, entitled Chumps, was released quietly on streaming services without any fanfare on Monday February 2 along with a lyric video featuring a simple black background with white text. Sharing it on his own social media, the iconic musician simply remarked: "Gotta say something."

While he hasn't confirmed specifically who the song is aimed at, the track sees him singing about "a man of no morality, of no real quality, a shallow man" and calling out "a man devoid of empathy, no trace of sympathy, of endless vanity," and one with "no humanity" and "no trace of sanity". The song continues: "We’re drowning in your self-regard. We're drowning in your lies. We drown in your pomposity, in your atrocities. We drown." It ends with: "You men of no morality. Your popularity, an endless mystery."

Roger is no stranger to infusing politics into his music. In 2019, he released a track called Gangsters Are Running The World.

Meanwhile, his 1994 album Happiness included the track Dear Mr Murdoch, which, as the title suggests, was an attack on media mogul Rupert Murdoch. That album also included the single Nazis 1994, a song railing against the rising tide of neo-Nazism.

This release comes just days after his bandmate and friend of almost six decades, Brian May, ruled out a Queen tour of America, citing it as too dangerous.

"Chumps" lyrics, by Roger Taylor:
A man of no morality
Of no real quality
A shallow man
A man devoid of empathy
No trace of sympathy
A callow man
A man with no humanity
Of endless vanity
A swollen man
A one man calamity, catastrophe
No trace of sanity
An empty shell
We drown in your self regard
We're drowning in your lies
We drown in your pomposity
In your atrocities
We drown
A man of truthless vanities
Of counting fantasies
A nothing man
A man of greed and treachery
Of mindless lechery
No kind of man
You men of no morality
Your popularity
An endless mystery
