MEANTIME IN CANADA
DEBATES
FRENCH
It is quite clear that this debate is unlikely to be particularly consequential in terms of shifting party standings in this campaign, partly because no party leader made major gaffes or stumbled badly. But in the end, it is highly probable that each leader who was on stage is satisfied of his performance.
ENGLISH
PP constantly bringing up Trudeau is like tRump always blaming Biden. I think PP has a secret boy crush on JT.
"I know you want to be running against Trudeau. I'm not Trudeau." Mark Carney is getting as fed up with PP as the rest of us.
The drinking game is take a shot every time Poilievre says "10 years of Liberal..." or "the lost Liberal decade." Or any of his other canned "creative" slogans.
Poilievre enters the #Debate2025 practicing his lines…
lost Liberal decade
lost Liberal decade
lost Liberal decade
Conservatives lost to the Liberals for a decade. Fact.
Hilarious to hear PP criticize other people’s “talking points” since he has to add “lost Liberal decade” to Every. Single. Sentence.
Poilievre: "I will not restrict abortion."
Also Poilievre: *votes to restrict women's abortion rights 15 times*
When someone can't look you in the eye it is generally because they are acting, lying and conning.
AN OPEN LETTER TO CANADA’S PRIME MINISTER MARK CARNEY FROM NEIL YOUNG 4-14-25
🟥 Dear Mr. Carney…
I am writing because I want to tell you how much I appreciate and support what you are trying to do for our great country, Canada.
Although I have lived in the United States for most of my life, and recently became a citizen of the USA, I am a Canadian and always will be. Now a dual citizen, I was born in Toronto, lived in the small town of Omemee, Ontario, endured polio when I was so young, I hardly understood what was happening to me and worried every day that I was going to die. It’s a miracle I survived and my childhood continued. My parents were wonderful. They let me have chickens. They let me play my guitar. Our dinner conversations covered everything from world issues, to sports, to stuff that was just plain interesting. But life isn’t perfect and our family split up. That’s when I moved to Winnipeg with my mom and the course of my life became clear. I became a musician and played at high schools and community clubs throughout the wonderful province of Manitoba.
Like you, I’ve met a lot of people in my career, from many walks of life, some who were wonderful, a great help to me, and some who were just there for a while. At this stage of my life, I am thankful to all of them who showed up and joined me on my journey. And…. I am so grateful to have had the luxury of a spotlight to bring attention to important causes and try to lead the charge through my music for rights and fairness on behalf of the people. It was urgent for us all to speak truth to power.
So now, here we are again. Canada is facing threats to its very existence, incredibly from people we thought were our friends. They want our resources, they want our land, they want our fisheries, they want our water, they want our Arctic, maybe they want our souls. I know the US president could use a soul.
It takes more than bravado to fight this kind of a threat. It takes brains, deep economic knowledge of how the world works, it takes strong, intelligent strategies, and the ability to recognize and seize opportunities both at home and on the world stage, opportunities that can bring a new level of prosperity and safety to people…..people who right now may be paralyzed with fear as they look to the future of Canada and the world.
Mr. Carney, I believe you are the person to do it. I believe you are the person our country needs to lead us through this crazy situation and bring us out the other side as a stronger, smarter, more resilient Canada, our core values of caring and fairness and generosity intact, along with our souls. Without a doubt, you’ve got the chops to get it done. And man, you have got the guts to take it on.
It's a heavy lift for sure, Mr. Carney. But I, for one, am with you all the way.
PEACE, …Neil Young
Not even a mother could love that face. He gives women "ick" vibes.
Wasn’t Poilievre embarrassed about spewing lying words as he cried crocodile tears through a newly plastic face under grey-dyed hair with his body wrapped in fake muscle girdling while he stood in elevator heels?
There’s absolutely nothing authentic and nothing good about him.
Poilievre says he’ll invoke the notwithstanding clause, never before used by the federal government. This would be exactly how they take away women’s rights, by the way.
And don’t tell me it’s not on their agenda - just look at the caucus.
I absolutely believe Poilievre would take away women’s rights in Canada and that’s exactly why he’s so quiet about it. He’s flying under the radar with that subject because in Canada it’s political suicide. But with 90% of his caucus being anti abortion, it would indeed happen.
Poilievre says he'll use notwithstanding clause to ensure multiple-murderers die in prison
How many mass murderers are running free in Canada, either out on bail or on parole? Anyone? A Big Fat ZERO!!!
Gee I can’t think of a single convicted mass murderer who’s out on the streets….and neither could Poilievre when asked by a journalist to name one, just one.
Pierre Poilievre couldn’t give the reporter an example of a mass murderer who’s been set free. Why? Because there aren’t any. All his ridiculous blustering about murderers being released and he didn’t prepare himself for the most obvious question. He is a idiot.
Every time Poilievre says he’ll use the Notwithstanding Clause to overturn our Charter and other laws he doesn’t like, he sounds more and more like Trump. Poilievre would turn Canada into crazy town too if given the opportunity. Like what Trump is doing to the US right now.
This is what PP thinks matters to the voters...

I see a headline in the Toronto Star this morning that Poilievre has promised to use the notwithstanding clause of the Constitution to get his so called tough on crime bills passed.
The headline is "Poilievre will use notwithstanding cause to pass law on consecutive murder sentences" if you have an account and want to look for it.
The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2022 that consecutive life sentences violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The notwithstanding clause overrides the Charter. It's use is and should be controversial as it can be used to override our rights and freedoms.
Crime legislation tends to garner emotional responses during which we forget that the legal system doesn't always get charges right and while we're busy trying to take revenge on the guilty, innocents do get caught up in it. Punishment for wrong doing is an important part of our society and so is respecting the rights of the innocent.
As I watch a government to the south of us violating their Constitution with impunity, I find the promised use of a controversial clause in our Constitution repugnant. It should only be used in extreme circumstances.
Maybe a more effective approach would be to reconsider what actions can trigger a dangerous offender designation so the most serious offenders are dealt with using that approach rather than wholesale violation of the Charter through the notwithstanding clause.
Poilievre threatening to use the Notwithstanding clause to overturn anything without Canadians consent is the worst case of political power abuse that I can think of. How many times would he use it and for what? I have no intentions of finding out. He’s the wrong guy for Canada.
I finally figured out who PP reminds me of!!
Every election I’m confused as to why Blanchet acts like Quebec is not part of Canada.
"The only reason that the Bloc Quebecois are in Ottawa is to protect Quebec's interests.
.....and the generous Canadian pension (for politicians)."
Blanchet: “I don’t want to be a leader of Canada or Prime Minister.”
So why does Quebec get a federal party?!
AND IN OUR OWN BACKYARD, LITERALLY! Ontario Premier DID NOT DO DUE DILGIENCE (what a surprise!?!?)
SOME LAUGHS!
MOST CANADIAN THING EVER!
Only in Canada, in the midst of one of the most consequential elections in our nation’s history, would a leaders’ debate be moved because of a hockey game.
...Jackie, once again you nailed it!!!
