ONTARIO - Doug Ford

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he will not reduce the size of his cabinet or the number of parliamentary assistants he employs following an all-party agreement to raise the salaries of MPPs, which had been capped for 16 years. Last week, legislation to increase the base salary for an MPP at Queen’s Park from $116,550 to $157,250 passed all three readings and became law within minutes of being tabled.

The Conservatives are pushing through Bill 5 at any cost, suspending debate and killing consultation.
Consultation with First Nations isn’t red tape. It’s respect. It’s our responsibility.
We can grow our economy while also honouring treaty rights. Doug Ford doesn’t have to choose—but clearly he has.
During Question Period, we witnessed MPP Sol Mamakwa – Ontario’s only First Nations MPP, named and removed from the Legislature for refusing to withdraw his statement that the Doug Ford Conservatives have mislead First Nations about Bill 5. We respect MPP Mamakwa’s courage and principled stance in speaking the truth and defending Indigenous rights.
“If Ford thinks he can bulldoze his way through Indigenous territory without consent, he’s not just provoking a backlash, but he’s reigniting a movement,” said OFL President Laura Walton referencing the Idle No More movement that rose in response to the federal Conservative government’s Bill C-45.
f the Ford government passes Bill 5 in its current form, even with the proposed amendments, one First Nation leader is threatening protests and blockades of major GTA highways.

Must be nice, first a pay raise then summer vacation!

✈️ Heading to the U.S.? Important Travel Update for Canadians π¨π¦πΊπΈ
If you're planning a trip to the United States, especially for more than 30 days, take note of the new travel rules:
π Mandatory Registration: Canadians staying over 30 days must now register with U.S. border authorities (via the I-94 form on the CBP website).
π Increased Border Scrutiny: Expect more questions and possible checks at the border—including phone or laptop searches.
⚠️ Non-Compliance Has Consequences: Overstaying or failing to register could lead to fines, detention, or even being banned from re-entry.
π§ Many Canadians are rethinking their travel plans and choosing alternative destinations.
✅ Tip: Check your I-94 status before and during your trip. Better safe than sorry.
Stay informed and travel smart. π¨π¦πΌ
We checked our I-94 and there is no record of us entering the States.

BUT THIS SCARES ME!!
Your mention one politician's salary, which seems on the low side to me and for a base rate politician should perhaps be higher.
ReplyDeleteYour country voted correctly at the recent election, so how the whatever did your province vote so wrongly. You've got to get the kiddies out to vote.
